Background black and No location reported

Hi there, greetings from the Netherlands! Afraid I have two questions. 1) recently I compiled my app again and since then all my backgrounds are black. All backgrounds were a gradient fill, but now all black. Setting the background color again in Theme or individual page doesn't help. (V1.5, appname CISSP) 2) because of the above problem, I starten a V1.5 app from scratch (V1.5 appname CISSP 2 CISSP). Backgrounds working just fine. But ran into another problem. The location screen doesn't report my current location. I checked settings, tried Allow GPS screen, but still no luck. This app runs on the same (iPad) device as the other app, which is reporting my location fine! So it can't be a device problem. Any thoughts?

OK, so I'm looking at CISSP (the first one) now, looks great. Nice blue gradient. Buttons are pretty too! I'm running the latest release, didn't change anything in your project. So... I've also downloaded the new one, CISSP 2 CISSP. It looks a bit different (no tabs, three buttons on home screen). The console reports this: 2011-03-29 02:11:07.736 cissp2cissp[2098:207] BT_locationManager: didUpdateToLocation Which means it is tracking the location. I'm running on the sim. What makes you think it's not reporting your current location - is the pin not dropping for your phone? On the sim, it drops in Cupertion, Apple Headquarters. Also, I've noticed you have maximumDistanceRadius=100 in the URL, yet I'm seeing locations all over the earth! Funny. Something's not setup in your PHP file OK or you're ignoring this intentionally? Look at the console and see what the BT_locationManager is reporting. It outputs to the console when it updates it's location. This generally happens a few times quickly until it pinpoints itself, then, not until you move a bunch.

Oh, wait, I was looking at the map for 'all' - duh. Ignore my comment about the distance filter not working ;-)

David, Thanks for your quick response and compliments. Normally I doesn't use the xcode simulator, I do all the testing on my iPad (more mobile). I just tried the simulator and see the gradient background, weird. So in the simulator everything works fine, but not on my device... Same story regarding question 2. In the simulator it works fine, on the device there is no blue pin dropping anywhere. The CISSP app on the same device does present the blue pin. Re-installing the apps doesn't help. Is there a way to really cleanup your application envireonment on the iPad so no cache or other leftovers are messing things up?

Hi peter, I also use an iPad and I do this: Under Settings, Safari, General, you can clear history, cookies and cache. See if that helps. Also turn off/on your location services on the iPad while app is not running.

Hi Miereter. Thanks for your reply! In the iPad Settings=>General=>Location Services I noticed that the LocationService for my specific application was turned off. Didn't even know I could set that by hand. But this problem solved, thanks ! The other problem (background black) is not solved by clearing the safari cache, history and cookies. Still looking...
