Config Data Missing Live in App Store

Hello! I have a little problem that is worrisome for me. My app is having trouble with finding config data while its live in the app store.... My attempts to download the app on new devices leave me with a blank, black screen, which is very bad for my end user. I'm using v1.5 Buzztouch. Is there any way this is because I recompiled Buzztouch into Xcode 3? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey hoogler....wow, that was a crazy hunt-n-peck to find the trouble. Your app shoudl be OK now. End users may need to re-launch their apps to refresh the config data. Here's what I found. If an error occurs during a download, the 'downloader' portion of the app reports an 'Error' to the screen that tried to fetch data. Each screen checks for the word 'Error' in it's results and if found, reports the touble, shows an alert, etc. In your case, your home menu contains the work Error in the Report Error or Problem choice. This means that no matter how many times the data was downloaded by the phone, it found the word 'error' in the result (the menu items text) and showed the alert. This is a very big FAIL on our part. This means no menu's, navigation bar title, etc. can contain the word 'Error' or it won't work! I changed your home screen to read Report Problem or Trouble and all's well. Guess we'de better change it to look for something a bit more cryptic, like 'ERROR - 19919191' or something to determine if trouble occured. Geeez, so much to consider! Hope this didn't cause to much trouble.

Hah that's a crazy issue! Thanks for the help. I'm in the process of upgrading to Xcode 4 so everything lines up, and I'll keep an eye on the problem. Thanks again!

Forgot about the Xcode 3 or 4 thing. I've compiled hundreds of these now in BOTH Xcode 3 and 4 (v1.5 apps). It shouldn't matter what Xcode version you are running. The only difference between the two is the 'look' and the 'layout' of the Xcode environment. You can open and compile the project in either, works the same ;-)

Speaking of which, how do you package for itunes connect in xcode 4? It used to be you could reveal in finder and compress it, but I can't find that option anymore...

I've relaunched, and then redownloaded the app from the app store, and it still won't load. Any ideas?

Not off the top of my head. Have you done this in the sim, with the source-code you've submitted to Apple. In other words, the project you compiled then uploaded to Apple (not something you 'just' downloaded from buzztouch). Launch the sim with your already submitted project.. look at the Console..what's it say? It'll almost always give you clues as to what's happening. I'de hate to think you would need to submit another App Store Update - although you could?

I'm planning on submitting an update (it was already planned) so that's no big deal. I'm reinstalling XCode 3 with 4.3 sdk (you have no idea how I hate new interfaces...) Part of the reason I'm submitting an update is to lighten my app. I think the first time I did it there was sample media in there bloating the size. I'll give you an update here in a few days (after Apple has hopefully accepted an update)
