Some problems with BT V1.5 first update

1.I have a problem with Word doc, pdf etc, I've added them locally in the doc folder, it does not work. I have added doukumet on a server, that did not work either. Only your sample.doc/pdf etc located on the web works. 2. Nav.bar style. I can not hide navigationbar it appears nevertheless. Otherwise I'm happy with the update. Language characters seems to work fine now.

a bit more failure. I can not get into the gallery in the backend. It lies down a black border just above the tabbar or the Button scrolling screen does not go all the way down to the tabbar. Forget question 2 in the previous post. It works.

Another problem...In the new update, my home screen background now formats all the way up top behind the top nav bar. there is no way in the settings to bring it back down. Old version had it just perfect.

Let the bug reporting begin! We hate this part but generally get all the stuff everyone else finds worked out in the first few days after a release. @ Mackimack: This is troubling, documents not loading is a big deal. If you've entered a local file name, and not a URL they should load form the project, as you expect. Kindaly post the App Name you're working with so we can get a look. Nav bar style: What srcreen? What App? I did this successfully hundreds of times this past week. Can't get into the gallery, button border- what does this mean? Are you having trouble with an image gallery or a button screen? @ Irishaisle Background scaling and position is adjustable. What size it it? Use the scaling options and see if it moves around. I'm guessing the image is not 320 / 480 as it should be.

Hi David I had to do a new app. So there is a Karlstad ccc old and one Karlstad ccc. I work with the karlstad ccc, open it in iphone and look at information tab and there you see some buttons. There is a border over the tabs. then you can check out the Om oss button it would not load the word doc.

My image is 320 x 480. But it is now partially being hidden by top nav bar. this wasnt an issue before. I played around with scaling but it didnt do anything.

The 'before' layout are not related, really, their not. This release has so many updates and changes that whatever is the alignment thing with the image, it has zero to do with 'before' Looking now...

@ Mackimack: I'm looking at the Karlstad CCC app now. I can't see the border you're asking about because your images are included in the project and I don't ahve the images. Fixed the word doc (and other doc types) loading thing. Redownload, launch again. Not sure how to resolve the 'border over the tabs' thing? Don't see what you mean. Can you post a screen shot of what you're talking about to a URL?

@Irishaisle Post the app name (as it appears in your control panel), i'll see what's up. If the image is 320 / 480 is should center, scale, whatever you've selected in the background properties. It's not 'moveable' It's position is 'center' on the screen unless you select Lower Right, Top Right, etc. This means if it's the same size as the screen the center / scale options will change the way it looks. Post the app, I'll figure it out.

is this the image we're talking about iaback4.png - on the home screen? Don't have it, if this is the background image, and the home screen is the one that isn't right, send it to info 'at' buzztouch.com so I can drag it into the project.

Got it, compiling... looking at the image, makes perfect sense without even seeing it on the device. Beccause you can now alter the status bar and the navigation bar, the image is doing exactly what you descibe. You have two options... a) Hide the status / nav bar on the home screen. Would look good but would also remove your 'info icon' or... b) modify the image slightly. I just did b and sent you the same image 'tweaked' a bit. drag it in your project, see the difference? It's doing what we expect, placing it exactly center. But, becuase the older software didn't allow for hidden nav/status bars your image is no longer perfect ;-)

Perfect image - thanks. Looks like the screen isn't laying out as expected. Wonder what happens when you rotate, it should re-render itself. Looking again.. check this post later. Dynamic buttons with tabs is super tough... we'll get it. Thanks again for the image.

David, I noticed in an image gallery when user taps on image and navbar goes away(as it should) sometimes the user is left with a white line instead of the navbar. Is this something we can configure now?

@ Mackimack: Adjusted the button menu, re-download, should be fine. Easy fix as expected. @ Miereter: I think you're seeing the Global Themes background color? Try setting that to black and see what happens. I'll be it goes away.

Thanks David, I ended up changing the Nav Bar background color to #000000 and making it transparent. In my case, when I made the change at the global themes level, my menu descriptions became black on black so the alternative I mentioned worked just fine for me. Thanks again for a great new version!!

Hi David I've downloaded the project again, but I still get a border over the tabbar. Can you also check out why the buttons disappear under navigationbar when I scroll up, I would like to stop them before they disappear under the nav bar.

These are the two issues address earlier... you must still have the previous (from early today) BT_Screen_menuButtons.m file? I uploaded it earlier, and just checked, it's on the download server? Stange. Kindly re-download, not sure what else to advise. Could it be that you accidentally compiled the version from this morning?

Questions about how to alter 1.5 apps- Is there a way to remove the refresh button from the front page, with still calling a remote URL to get the data? The splash page is set to -1 and it goes to the transition on it's own, does not wait for the user's input. Is this a known issue? Thanks for any suggestions.

Splash... no, this should work? Refresh button logic... Refresh button shows on home screen only if the app has a dataURL in the config file. Reminder, the config file in the Xcode project is only used 'the first time' if it downloads and caches a new one. So...to remove the refresh button, remove the dataURL. However, this will also prevent the app from getting any updates. You could also manually remove it. The left button is one of three things. 'Blank', 'Back' or 'Refresh'. It's blank if the screen is on the home-screen of a tab, and the dataURL in config is empty. It's back-button if the tab is not on the home screen of itself. It's refresh if it's on home-screen and a dataURL is provided. The button is added to the nav bar in one place in the entire project so you can easily change it, or remove it. See... BT_Layout folder > BT_viewUtilities.m The configureBackgroundAndNavBar method is where all this happens. The left-side nav button is added (or removed) starting on about line 328 inside this method. Easy to understand once you find it ;-) If you want to force the Refresh method some other way, you can fire the same method the Refresh button is wired to. You could do this from anywhere in the project. The method is called downloadAppData and the method exists in the [appName]appDelegate.m file. Example: To refresh the apps data when the user shakes the device, you could put something like this (syntax needs testing) in any screen controller: - (void)motionBegan:(UIEventSubtype)motion withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ if (motion == UIEventSubtypeMotionShake){ myAppName *appDelegate = (myAppName *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [myAppName downloadAppData] } } That's off the top of my head and will probably only work of iOS 3.2 and above but you get the idea. Grab a reference to the appDelegate somewhere then fire it's downloadAppData method.

Worked after some playing. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Makes the apps look so much cleaner after testing is finished.

Thank you for the help with the refresh topic. After changing a line, it went poof, as I wanted. The splash screen still waits one second and flips, even though it's set to -1. Any ideas on the splash screens functioning unexpectedly folks? Anyone else have this issue and find a solution?

@ erichopf What app are you working with that has the animation -1 trouble? I looked at the backend, at a few of your Splash Screens, the two I looked at don't have -1 set in the panel. I want to download one and see what's happening. Post the app name and I'll see what I can come up with, gotta be easy ;-)

Ah wait... think I found the trouble. Looks like the -1 would be ignored in cases where the image was not downloaded from a URL (if it was already downloaded or was included in project). Re-download project... OR...BT_Screens > BT_screen_splash.m line 323, 324... you'll see //animate splash.. [self performSelector:@selector(animateSplashScreen) withObject:nil afterDelay:startTransitionAfterSeconds]; Change it to: if(startTransitionAfterSeconds > -1){ [self performSelector:@selector(animateSplashScreen) withObject:nil afterDelay:startTransitionAfterSeconds]; } This is inside the setImage method. Bet that fixes it ;-) Already updated the download server.

Wonderful. I'll have to redownload the code in the AM and try it on for size. Thank you so very much for being so on it and helpful even when we visual C noobs are in need of assistance.

I need a trip to NY. I wonder if we can gather a group of mobile-enthusiasts that are interested in having a little buzztouch pow-wow? Hmm... I've seen quite a few NY folks in the database...maybe we'll try to put something together if there's any interest? Hard at work on Android and way better control-panel-flow to get the creation processes less-breakable.

The Portfolio works like a charm now. Thanks again, for the time you put in to helping the users get their apps up and running. In the SuperV app, when I turn on Airplane mode and go to the Blog RSS or the Twitter RSS feed tabs, it causes the app to crash. Is there a why to prevent this? I think a dev meet-up would be interesting. They do it for Joomla, Wordpress, etc. It could help developers connect, share ideas, contact info and foster a larger sense of community. Something to ponder. Looking forward to the Android builds and getting to work with Eclipse.
