amazonappstore - rejection - device id & encryption

Uploaded a few apps to the new amazon store, all have been preivously published on itunes & google. A few got published after a few days :) Just got one back though as a rejection: Your app has failed a Security test case. Application Version: [1.4] OS Version: [2.2] Device/Form Factor: [Motorola Droid 2] Issue 1: Application send sensitive data (Device ID) without encryption. Thoughts? Its its hassle no worries :) Thanks!

Hmm.... We havn't looked at the Amazon store guidelines at all. If they require data such as the device Id to be encrypted, lots of adjustments will need to be made. Encryption isn't necessarily difficult, it's more a matter of balancing the idea of helping our users (app owners) understand what's happening with their apps and shielding them from the data. If we encrypted simple data points, like the device Id they may become suspicious that we are somehow tricking them or secretly controlling their info. Thinking about this.... I'm already thinking that maybe a 'encrypt outgoing data' checkbox be on the control panel? Well, wait, that won't work. If the data is ecnrypted, and sent to an app owners website, and not the buzztouch control panel, they wouldn't know how to decrypt it. Sigh... I'll look in to the Amazon guidelnes and see what I can come up with...
