iOS -- Simulator missing in Xcode drop down menu

Next I launched my buzztouch_v14_iPhone folder and the blue X file. I followed the video until he selected the simulator from the drop down menu -- but there wasn't a simulator in the dropdown menu I have. Should I have bought it from the App store? It's a matter of setting the build settings for the project to the SDK you have, then probably closing / re-opening Xcode.
