Hi in France. Feedburner applies LOTS of service / feature to an otherwise well-formed RSS feed. This feed transforms the data in a Browser friendly way. View Source when looking in Firefox... see all the fancy HTML injected in each story? They are displaying a browser friendly version with images, links, all sorts of goodness. You won't be able to 'pull' the images out of this HTML using the RSS Screen. Can you visit Feedburner and adjust some settings to alter the output format? Images will need to be in their own image-tag in the XML - thay cannot be in the HTML. You could also try just using the URL in a Custom URL screen. If Feedburner is 'smart enough' to adjust the output in a browser friendly way, they may also be 'smart enough' to adjust it for a mobile browser? Worth a shot.

Here's what I've learned about RSS elements. I learned that Feedburner does not actually insert an image element for each article using their image feature, they only put an image in the header of the RSS feed and not in each item (article). In order to add elements to the items in an RSS feed, it's necessary to parse it through another program. The program, usually a script written in Perl, will need to take the existing RSS XML document and edit it, adding new elements, like an image, to each article, or changing the element formats, like dates, into a format you want. If you know Perl and can write a script, then you can edit an RSS feed to output a revised one. My son is helping me do this and we're testing a Perl script that will insert an image tag into each article so it appears on the left of the RSS menu of the article on the Buzztouch RSS feed page. The test worked so far but he's tuning it so I can edit it easier and add new RSS feeds to the script. I wanted MY RSS feed in the app for a calendar to have my logo icon each article, but I am going to include other calendars in the app that will have different icons. I fed his cats while he was on vacation so it's payback!

I saw one or another thread about possibilities using "Pipes" to this operation. I have the same challenge due to Feedburner and their browser friendly version with images, like David says. I have tried to find some more information about "Pipes" in the forum, also tried "Pipes" in my application, but I have not succeed yet. I find it a little difficult, but I´m sure there is a solution. There are probably someone out there... -Alf-
