How do I distribute my free app

Now this is from a noob. I have just created a new app, which I want to give out to people free for promoting my business. Do I still have to fork out to apple ? Can they download from my website ? Otherwise how do people download and use apps ? What is the process of getting apps into their iphone or android ? I have an android but sorry I am a plank with these matters.

Android Apps will not run on BB, no. BB are almost 4th place now since the Windows phone will be taking a bit of the enterprise market away from them. You can make the app available through a few other channels, not just the App Store, you can go for adhoc distribution which limits you to 100 Apple users and Android phones will even install unsigned apps if the user allows that on their phone. You can pop the app on your site with a download prompt for Android users but the adhoc distribution on Apple will still require you to be a reg'd dev at Apple (I think?). Hope some of this helps, somebody else will chip in though. Read, ask questions, then Google and read some more! Happy Friday!

As far as I know BT doesn't support BB sorry. Just iphone & android. I think you could possibly make an andoird app and have it downloadabe (somehow) from your website, but don't think you can do that with iphone apps.

If your app simply promotes your business, I would think twice before shelling out the $99 developer license fee. I've seen posts on this forum on people who submitted apps that did more than just promote their business/service, and the app still got rejected. As MacApple said, BB is very much an afterthought nowadays. Fortunately, you won't face the same restrictive guidelines when you post your app for Android devices, which are growing at a steeper rate than iOS units. Best wishes.

Think you'll need to find different software to make it then :(
