Crash on Load

I've got a question -- I submitted my app to the Apple store and it's pending review. I was updating the menus/screens, and on the latest The app has been changed, would you like to update, I clicked yes, and since then, every time I open it, it crashes without opening. Do I need to recompile and resubmit?

Followup - I recompiled for testing, put it on my iPhone, and also tried running it on the Xcode simulator - - both times, it's a black screen with the roundy-roundy loading icon turning (it's going on about five, six minutes now on the simulator. After about 5 on the iphone, I turned it off to try the simulator.

When you run it from the build I dont suppose you get the error code right at the bottom of Xcode do you? Im having the exact same problem on my other thread I posted.

Youve got the exact same issue as me then :( ... Ive been re-downloading the source code but no luck, I also get the error message 'GDB: Program recieved signal: SIGARBT' Ive tried changing different settings within Xcode but nothing seems to work because the problem can't be identified. Ive tried looking up tutorials on how to fix this but Im in way over my head. I think something must have been changed on Buzztouch with all new features coming in etc. Helps to know its not an individual problem now. I'll let you know if I come accross anything but Ive been looking all over for a fix and found nothing helpful.

Yeah, I found a couple of sites that suggest fixes, but I think (hope?) it's a buzztouch-side issue, as the app worked really well before I added a bunch of menus and saved. (Also, it would save me from going through the resubmission process)

Hi Guys. @p.seeba - welcome from Houston ;-) So..I've been looking at this for hours today @icedbreeze was the first to report such an issue (earlier today) and it seemed strange and important! I havn't found anything to suggest this behavior and I can reproduce it. We have made some serious adjustments recently (see the change log in the v1.5 control panel) and have uploaded yet another project tonight to support the v1.5 quiz screens. Lets do this...both of you? a) Change nothing in your control panels b) Download the latest project source-code from your app's control panel c) Build and Run. See what happens. d) Post your app name as it appears in your control panel. I ask this so I can test the exact app you workign with, not a test version on my end. It's going to be something easy to fix, just have to identify it. I'm shrugging a bit because SO MANY folks have success compiling and running without any trouble but there are always a few folks (you guys this time) that run into trouble. All good, we'll figure it out.

I tried it - same issue, the app name is GHPB v1.5. If you'd like I can email it (though I suspect you have access to everything on your end. :^)

OK Guys: I WAS able to get both your apps to crash, always, everytime like you described. Both: Make sure to look at the Output Console (in Xcode) when building / running your projects. It really really helps. I realize it looks like giberish but if you taka moment and read it line-by-line it gives lots of useful info for the times when things dont' go quite right. @icedBreeze: I dug and dug and finally figured out what's up. I started at the Splash Screen (because that's were the console was telling me the project errored), you had GrimeMobileSplash.jpg entered in the Background Image URL box. This is not a URL. This is a file name or 'image name' and will not work. iOS was dying trying to load 'GrimeMobileSplash.jpg' from the internet. URL's are like http://www.yousite.com/GrimeMobileSplash.jpg. I entered that in the Image Name box (and cleared the image URL box) and the crash stopped - for moment! We got past the first splash screen but it crashed on the Home menu. This is because the buttons on the home menu have the same issue. Image Names entered as Image URL's. You'll need to go in an either a) enter valid URL's pointing to images online or image names pointing to images in your Xcode project. Enter either an Image Name or an Image URL for buttons, backgrounds, anywhere an image is used. That should fix-ya-up. @p.seeba: Got your's working too but have not 100% figued out the problem yet. Make one adjustment in your source-code to get it to work on your end (awesome app by the way!!). a) Expand the BT_Objects folder (in Xcode and open the BT_downloader.m file. b) Scroll down to about line 238 (in BT_downloader.m) and look for this line: BOOL saved = [BT_fileManager saveStringDataToFile:dStringData:saveAsFileName:1]; c) Change the 1 to a 4. The number 1 to the number 4. It will look like this when you're done with this adjustment: BOOL saved = [BT_fileManager saveStringDataToFile:dStringData:saveAsFileName:4]; d) Delete the app from the sim... build and run. Should work. Does on my end. The trouble has something to do with the character set (fancy word for text) in your app's configuration file. Oh, almost forgot... I edited one of your screen nicknames because it had some crazy looking charater in it. I changed Schrader Marine Services. I wasn't sure if the 'a' was an 'o' instead? Like Scroder Marine Services? I did this because when looking at your control panel there was a strange character where the 'a' was that I couldn't read. It looks to me like you're cutting/pasting data from a word processor like MS Word? This could be the entire issue. Word and other sofware programs sometimes inject strange characters where you may not expect and they dont' show until you do something like this (mult softwares using the same data). Blah, blah. bottom line, don't cut-n-paste in the control panel, seems to screw things up sometimes? I'm not sure where other hidden/strange characters may lie in the panel, I just know that changing the chracter set flag from 1 to 4 solved it. We'll need to keep on this until we figure it out becuase each time you donwload the code for this app you'll need to 'remember' to make this change. Not good. We'll need a better long term solutions. If you havn't heard from me in a few days with a better plan, nudge this post. Also... be sure to post and leeme know if this works for you guys..
