How to avoid rejection by Apple

Folks, here are some interesting tips to start the discussion. It would be nice if we could compile a list of tips for buzztouch members by platform (ios vs android) and what each of us did to get past the rejection. http://mobileorchard.com/avoiding-iphone-app-rejection-from-apple/ Thanks

Nice one. Some good info in there, still relevant article, problem with that link is that it is 2 yrs old, Apple are constantly changing what is expected and acceptable whereas Android refuse nothing but that does provide a good grounding in the do's and don'ts of app development and deployment. The BT infrastructure takes care of a lot of the points in that post but would love to see a quick reference guide on tips and tricks and features that make an App more appealing to Apple. From what I gather the BT boys are working night and day to provide more dynamic features so it is us, the end user, as you so rightly say, that should be sharing info on what we did, features we added etc. Anyway, nice one, cheers for sharing!

Hi MacApple, I realize the article is old and thus we should all help to fish out what still applies vs not. Here is another listing (also a bit dated) but still interesting. http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2010/09/app-store-guidelines.pdf Thanks

I've got a couple of apps rejected because of unnecessary location report. Turn OFF your 'start tracking location' option in the core properties panel if you don't have any content that benefits of this.. Easy to forget =)

Fortunately buzztouch makes sure most of these won't be an issue for us using the service.. the ones left are description matters (which should be easy enough to avoid), and 'network detection' notification (don't know if this has been fixed.. have seen one or two posts about it on the forum).. And also matching icons... ALWAYS make your icon(s) 512 x 512 pixels from the beginning.

The unnecessary location - me too, but no problem now with a fix in 1.5 and a workaround in 1.4 (thanks David). Did a charity app so had to change it so didn't link directly to website for charity (either that or safari, too tricky for me!) One got stuck for being marketing, but put in some extra 'history' content & rejigged it, went live 4 hours later when I emailed the resolution centre & said what I did to fix it. A friend did a book 'app' (not buzzt) and got it published as an app not in ibookstore after talking to them (no ibookstore in ireland). They are all mine anyway! :D

I've had a few apps rejected recently because Apple is now requiring more native functionality. My apps are for schools so I don't need a ton of native functionality. Apple suggested reprogramming in HTML5 then just offering the app on my website. The whole point though is that users browse the AppStore. Annoying. I was able to successfully argue a couple of apps but haven't heard back about the others. Anyone else having this issue and an easy up-front work around suggestion?
