Android app will not parse once downloaded to phone

I created an app here on Buzztouch and downloaded the Android source code. Then I used Eclipse to compile it into an .apk file. Then I emailed the .apk it as an attachment to a friend who has an Andorid phone. He downloaded the attachment and it gave and error message that the file would not parse. What does this mean and how do I fix this?? Thanks, Geoff

Hi..I can think of three things that may be happening: a) The application was not code-signed with Ecplise before you emailed it. Be sure to use the Android Packaging Assitant (I think that's what it's called) to code-sign then package your app. b) Your friends phone may not be setup to run non-market apps. Set this on your friends phone in the settings > applications panel 'Allow non market apps' to yes. c) Your friends phone may only be able to install third party apps via URL they type in the browser. There are many changes manufacturers and carriers can make to handsets. Some prevent app installations without using the phones built-in browser. In this case, put your .apk on a website somewhere then load the URL in the phones browser. Or... just put in Google's App Market, let them download it, then remove it from the market if you don't want anyone else to get it?
