Xcode failure on startup - Version problem

Hi, Can anybody help me? I bought a brand new Mac so that I could get onboard with an App that I wanted to put together. I loaded SDK etc and all was ok. But for some reason, I now cant load Xcode!! I have now found Buzztouch and realise I need to get Xcode running again. Here is the error message: Process: Xcode [385] Path: /Users/dennismcglynn/Desktop/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode Identifier: com.apple.Xcode Version: ??? (???) If I'm to continue with Buzztouch I need to get Xcode up and running so I can compile my Buzztouch program Please can anybody help (Im a stranger to the Mac environment) Cheers Dennis [email protected]

Hi in England - cool boat pic! I'm not sure at all what's happening with your machine. Like you already understand, you'll need to get Xcode running or you won't be able to use the buzztouch source-code. I'm really really surprised that your brand new mac is causing issues. Can you remove Xcode completley then re-install? Not the SDK, but Xcode itself? I'm really not sure how to advise, this is very surprising behavior for a new mac. Bummed in Monterey.

Just to add a little more information. I loaded the SDK & Xcode and all was fine. Worked a treat and got as far as Hello World (Please do bear in mind - I'm not used to the MAC environment - but Im serious about doing some apps based on my profession - Electrical Engineer & associated Regulations and codes in Britain) I wanted to put the apps through Apple so I knew I needed a MAC - so I bought one. But something hapenned - I took onboard a couple of software updates. Then I was getting SDK Missing I reloaded the SDK - about 5 times!!! I dont know how to fully erase and reload on the MAC - steep learning process. Im in hospital for a hip replacement after 13th April - so I wanted to get a couple of apps built during my resting period.

Wow... sounds crazy, and after looking at your previous interests, I'm thinking you're every bit as capable of figuring this out as anybody. There's gotta be something fixable (like you already reaslize). I have a few apps that won't run if they are not in the Applicaitons folder. This is like the Windows Start Button. Not really, but being new to Mac I figured I could toss that in. Basically, all applications / software you want to run are kept in the Applications folder. Looks like Xcode / SDK likes this too. See this: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/off-topic/35948-xcode-crash.html The symptoms sound like yours. And... before I forget...good luck with the hip!

Xcode is at Hard-drive/Developer/Applications/ (you'll see the Apple-centric dev. tools in this folder. A command line script will remove all this stuff 'safely' in a Mac centric way. Another search: http://www.withoutink.com/technology/howto-uninstall-the-iphone-sdk/ done for the night. cheers. d.

As there are many types of developers with little to a lot of development experience, I will ask the obvious. Are you using a Mac or PC? Xcode will only run on OS X.

I am one of those with little experience. I have a Mac and dowloaded xcode. The download was to include sdk. When I go to launch the buzztouch file the xcode does not load. A box opens in the left hand corner. Nothing launches... nada.

I have not had this happen before. What OS version are you running? With 4.x you need to be running an Intel machine with 10.6.6 on it.

First, restart your computer and try to open the Project file. If that does not work, attempt to reinstall. I know it's not fun, but there were a few issues before 4.0.2. If that doesn't work, perhaps someone else has run into this and you should repost your question in a new post so people will see your issue easier.

What version do you have? I saw you had stated you paid 4.99 and that should only be if you bought Xcode 4. If you purchased it in the last week or two, it should be 4.0.2.

It is 4.0.2. It is the Window System. It is Mac. It's unfortunate ... it wont launch.
