No connection error message on custom html pages?

Hi, Not at my computer so unable to look into this further at the minute but maybe someone else can help? Doing some testing of an app (v1.5) on my device and have noticed that on my customHTML pages when I have no connection all I get is a blank screen - no warning message. Been looking at app store guidelines a lot lately and pretty sure this goes against them. Is it something i've done wrong or a bug that needs fixing? Cheers

Could be either ;-) There's a few things that could cause this and we are for sure working out a way to inform end-users with appropriate messaging when this happens. You're insights would be helpful too. The trouble is the 'initial load' in that an internet connection is required. Beyond that, lots of factors determine what does or doesn't need a connection. The toughest part, and we hear it all the time, is the case when an app is installed, or the data-cache is cleared, then the connection is gone. In this case, the screen will be black - yikes. Maybe just a matter of showing a friendly 'no connection' screen or somethign when the case arises. Again, not sure the best way to approach this but for sure working it out.

Cheers David. The problem occurs when no 'initial load' for the screen has taken place so there is no cached version - resulting in a blank screen. I think for this scenario we need some form of friendly 'error - no connection' message to inform users and to ensure apps are not rejected because of this. I guess the message could take 1 of 2 forms? Either as currently happens for a customURL screen - where an 'on screen' iOS Error Message appears. Or preferably as a UIAlertView message. What do you think? Is this difficult to implement? Thanks.

Or, a nice looking graphic or image that would display along with a Refresh button to try again. This approach would allow somebody to enter text in the Strings / Lanuages file (app owners) with the appropriate message: 'Were sorry, the information could not be displayed, please check your internect connect' or the same thing in French, German, Spanish. The source-code would provide the nice graphic, the app owner could overwrite the text. Good thoughts...thanks as usual.
