Maps Question (and a couple others)

Hello! I finally got my app to work on a device (ipod touch), which is great, since it was the first time I could test the map directions function. Once I click to get directions, it opens up the native maps application, effectively removing me from my own app. Is there any way to provide a back button, so that users aren't removed from the app every time they get directions (or some other easy way back to app)? Secondly, I would eventually like to add information about each map location, which I presume I can do by linking to another page. However, it appears that it can only be either a new page, or map directions. Is there any way to do both? Also a quick thought... Any reason why a splash screen would work in simulator, but not on device? And does anyone know a good icon creator, or designer service? Thanks again!

Cant help you with the first part (sure others can!) Be sure to include what version of the control panel your using (1.4 or 1.5). @splash screen - perhaps the app loads so fast that the splash just doesn't have time to show! I have heard of this happening before. #icon creator - here you go, I have been using this for a year now, its amazing! http://www.quirco.com/iPhoneIcon/Default.aspx

Felix may be right about the loading of the splash screen, see if you can 'slow it down' (splash screen settings) as a test? Maps: The DEVICE determines the behvior of launching another application, such as maps. Example: Older devices, running without multi-tasking, will always close your app, then launch the new app (maps). Newer devices, with multi-tasking will push your application to the background before launching maps. Tapping your app again will return the user where they were. This is a iOS controlled behavior. If you're launching a native app, you'll have to live with the way iOS handles it. Which leads us to the next question. You must be using v1.5 or you wouldn't have Splash Screen questions (Splash screens are not available in v1.4) So.. you can load anykind of screen you want instead of driving directions. The design you choose is entirely up to you. You could load another menu-screen (with say, an info button and a directions button), or a web-page, or yet another map, it's up to you. Understanding how to connect the screens is core to the process and getting that figured out will expose all sorts of new options and flexibility and confidence that you can accomplish nearly anything ;-)
