Maps 2 Menus?

I added some hiking trails to my app by using the multiple location Map function on buzztouch. Here's the issue: There is no way to get driving directions to the actual trailhead. I had to create another multi-Location menu to say Driving Directions with no Details URL's. Am I missing any way to accomplish driving directions and maps of the trails with one map? Bruce

Are you saying that the trailheads are too remote for Google to produce reliable driving directions via that feature? If so, what about putting driving directions in a Custom HTML type page (for each location on the map), and then linking those pages from the points on the map (rather than linking the driving directions feature?

To be clear, there are three options on the Location Map page in the control panel, When this location is tapped... - Do nothing, don't show an icon - Show driving directions - Load the screen with the nickname below So you would want to use Load the screen with the nickname below and link a Custom HTML page with the directions. AHHHHWaitaminute... I know what's going on, you are on 1.4, the above is a version 1.5 feature. I suggest trying this out in 1.5, it should do what you need.

I'm getting to 1.5 but i have to release the app I started on 1.4. :-) What I'm asking is if there is a way to use 1 map to Forest Service Trailheads (which are remote places, near no businesses or homes). So I have to create 1 map with all the trailhead lat & Long (Start of the trail). And 1 map of the actual trail itself. Does that make sense? The reason I ask is you still have to enter the lat & long, then add the Details URL, so why do we have to enter the lat & long if the Detail URL cancels out the lat & long? The only reason I ask is because I think I might be doing something wrong. b

I jumped right into 1.5 without much experience in 1.4, so I don't have an answer for that, sorry! I thnk 1.5 will definitely improve your situation, though, because you can link from the trailhead locations on the first map to the map of the trail itself, directly. You might be able to have David upgrade your 1.4 app to 1.5 for you if it's not too complex.they are working on a 1.4->1.5 upgrade for the control panel but just working out some bugs. I think they're close, though.

Thanks for the tip! I'll wait for the Control Panel to be upgraded. I think David works too hard as it is. And that's not a put down, he's got enough to do already! b

He does seem to be a busy man! Let me know when your app goes live, would love to check it out as a fellow outdoorsman. My trails are mostly on the water, though.

Hi Guys, I appreciate your concern for the amount of work I put in. Figured I'de toss in my two cents about why I live spend so much time on this forum. The short story, I enjoy it. The long story, it's the only way to ensure that our valuable site visitors aren't discouraged trying to solve a VERY COMPLICATED problem. If this sucks for you, nobody wins. If it doesn't, we both MAY benefit greatly. I've said it over and over again, the effort put in by the Early Adopter folks is unreal (that's you guys). Effort, as in dealing with BS code changes, complex interfaces, strange new issues, and unpredictable results. The last we can do is try our very hardest to support their interests and enthusiasm. We have far more to gain (and lose) than any one individual visitor so it benefits us tremendously to stay on top of this stuff, help as much as we can, and LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN. Eventually, v1.5 will be 'done' to the point that common problems are gone (it's almost there now), the Control Panel will be simplified, more graphical, and less complicated, and the actual delivered download will be more useful because it will just work. At that point (about the time we start on v1.6, sigh) all will be easier and I'll be able to once again spend my time innovating (where I thrive). In the meantime, I'm happy to help, I'm happy to learn, and I'm happy to participate in our generations Wild West.

Thanks, David. Seriously. Here's how I look at it: buzztouch just gave me an unbelievable approach to making an app quickly and easily. FOR FREE. I was about to drop some coin on another service, and had been looking around trying to figure out which option was best. But I really wanted to maintain control and ownership of the source-code and the future of my app. If at some point I was unsatisfied with such-and-such app service, I wanted to be able to go somewhere else and take my app with me, or at least maintain its distribution in the app store as is, without paying some service to do so. That's when I found buzztouch and never looked back. Because you've provided a great service for free, I figure it's my duty to give as much feedback and provide as many decent ideas as possible so that you can keep improving this app. I'll try to answer questions in the forum if I'm able, and maybe lessen the load on you. I've seen similar products/services soar to greatness because of an involved user group (RapidWeaver, a personal favorite is a great example), and I'd like to see that success for buzztouch. This is also my down time for my business, which is seasonal and starts to really pick up in a few weeks from now. Its the time I get to enjoy developing new ideas, and just participating in the forum gets my gears turning, and I end up with better ideas outside, too. In a few weeks, my business will take over. I'll totally disappear from hear, I'm afraid. (well, not totally, but almost) So I'll do what I can for now. The timing seems right as I can help find bugs in 1.5 and perhaps it will be done right about the time my focus needs to change. As with any user forum, I realize there are probably lots more people out there who are just reading along and not participating. That is normal. But perhaps they'll see those of us who are actively conversing and might step in to the mix themselves. (OK silent readers, if you've had an idea and kept it to yourself, just go ahead and spit it out already!) Alright, so I've just reminded myself I've only got a few weeks to go. Got to wrap up a few apps here and get to launching.

Smiling. Good stuff does come from a mutually beneficial set-up, like we have here. Thanks for the post.

I did tech support for 3 years. I actually believe that it's critical for the long term success of any company. Listening is key to keeping the customers that you already have. Which saves a lot on marketing and sales. Thanks for all your help. Bruce
