(iOS) Submitting and subsequent changes to app.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I'll admit. I have this desire to craft my app perfectly, and completely, before I submit it to the App Store. The realist in me says, Don't sweat it. Just get a decent working version ready and turn it in. You can perfect it later. OK, so I'll compromise with myself and submit a looks-good-enough app with the intention of continuing to improve it. My concern is whether Apple cares what I do with my app *after* it goes to the App Store. With the unique approach of buzztouch, I know I can go in and change mostly anything about my app. I'm not looking to change anything serious, like the purpose, function, or basic approach of the app. But I would like to add more information as it goes along. For example, if my app is all about Baking and I have a section with recipes that includes recipes for various kinds of cakes, cupcakes, and pies, but then I decide to add a new category for souffles, is that ok? Or what if I have 3 types of cupcake recipes, and I plan on adding 12 more? Ok? Or if I come up with an idea to add a section for how-to-bake videos, is that ok? Don't worry, I'm not changing it from a Baking app to a Carpentry app. I'm not crazy.... (maybe a little...) I'm not saying my submitted app would be half-baked (pun intended). It would be to a point that I'd consider ready for consumption. It's going to taste great, but I want to add some more flavor further down the road. Thoughts? Chef R2-D2

If you're just going to make changes to the content, I'm sure this isn't something apple would disapprove of, unless you turn it into a whole different app.. even then, I really don't think apple would ever know about you changing it at all.. they can't possibly have the time and capacity to re-check the content of every app out there. I'd say, just get it out there, and improve it as you go.. You may even get some helpful user feedback on how to improve your app. Being able to make real time changes is something we should take advantage of for all it's worth. Good luck with your app!

half-baked, awesome. From the best we can tell, Apple primariy operates on a complaint basis. If your end-users aren't frustred, you'll probably be fine. There are examples of all kinds of random Apple behavior and decisions but generally their intentions are clear. Give the user what they expect (what the app claims to do) and you'll be OK. Submitting a simplified version a good approach and lots of folks create simple apps with limited functionality that is useful in some basic way. Like a list of Cup-Cake tips with a new tip each day. Submit, approve. Update as you go (like the NY Times does, The USA Today and zillions of other content-centric apps)

Thanks for the feedback Capt. Ash and David. That really helps put it in perspective and I'll sweat less about polishing my app in a hurry. Guess I hadn't really thought about how many apps do feature constantly changing content and the real benefit thereof. I think I've been exposed to too many anecdotes about apps being denied and all that press. It's not like they are writing a story every time an app gets accepted. Less stressed. =)
