Audio stream from file - stops after the phone locks

Is there any way of preventing the audio track from stopping when the iPhone auto-locks? (v1.5)

Doesn't a phone kill the launched app after locking? I think you need multitasking enabled, but not sure.

Looking into this - usure at this point. It's our understanding that v1.4 allowed this, the tunes / stream / audio kept playing when the app went to the background but v1.5 seems to be turning it off. We'll figure it out and post back.

I am having the same problem. I have an audio meditation, and when it auto-locks down the audio stops. I thought about including instructions to users to go to Settings--General--Auto-lock and set auto-lock to never, but it would be better if the audio would just continue.

Was this resolved, I am making a meditation app as well that needs to play even when the auto-lock features turns on. How can I fix this, either in Buzztouch or in Xcode. Thanks Thomas

I still have the same problem. It is a bit lame, but I put written instructions into the app to ask users to set auto lock to never. Good luck with your app! I have an audio meditation too, called Christian Meditation.

Lame - too funny, brought a smile. I totally understand, audio should just keep playing in most cases. We never did figure out a way to make this setting easy in the control panel because most apps that use audio use a bunch of different tracks and it gets super-confusing (programming wise) to work around. Maybe we'll get it at some point? In the meantime, it's all about what iOS calls an Audio Session. When the audio starts you can instruct your app (with code) to begin an Audio Session. This helps the device understand what to do with your audio when things happen...like earphones plugged in / out , app to background, etc. Google Audio Session iOS and see if you can get anywhere.

Hi thanks to David I got this working and have posted in another thread what I did to get it to work. To see the full instructions please go to the thread called: Audio Playback Even When Auto-Lock Turns On

Thank you so much for your help! David, I didn't at all mean that Buzztouch was lame--just that my workaround for solving the problem was lame. Like Thomas777 I should have followed through to find a technological solution. Thank you for writing it up, Thomas777! I can't say how much I appreciate Buzztouch, and I am thrilled to be part of watching Buzztouch develop.

@Sue, glad to try as usual. Don't worry, your comment didn't sound like a lame remark, made perfect sense. Users on the iOS platform have very very high expectations and an audio type app should work like the user expects. Audio that suddenly turns off, for no apparaent reason would be lame - that's why I giggled. It's amazing how many different options our darned control panel offers and it's mostly wonderful. However, there are countless things (you can't imagine how long the list is) that need improved. Audio session management is one of those things. It does seem like some choices could be made in the Core Settings or something that asked some basic questions about what should happen when the app is put to the background. Hmm..maybe a weekend project!
