Prevent City Name Linking

I am using html doc's that include city names. How can I prevent them from being auto-linked to Google map? Thanks.

Are you referring to iPhone or Android? Which buzztouch version? On an iPhone, in buzztouch v1.5, my custom html will auto-link an entire address, but simply putting a City name or a City, ST in the text does not auto-link. Note, this is using the buzztouch page type Custom HTML-Text rather than using a separately created HTML Document page type. I haven't tried that yet.

Using an iPhone, v1.5. Same problem using custom html-text or html doc. I'm stumped.

What iPhone model and iOS? Mine is not doing this. (iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.1) Can you cut-and-paste an example of your text that is getting auto-linked?

Using same as you - iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.1. Buffalo, NY auto-linked, any City, St is auto-linked.

Ok, I think I've got it. Wild guess, your text is not just Buffalo, NY on it's own. It says something something something to/in/near/about Buffalo, NY. Am I right? It seems these words are indicators of a destination when followed by a City, ST and activates the auto-link feature. In a brief experiment, I was able to remove the , NY portion (both the comma and the ST) and it would no longer auto link. So remove , ST and it won't auto-link. Or you can keep the , ST portion and just don't preface the City, ST with the words to, in, near, or about. There may be other words that activate the auto-link, but those are the ones I just figured out quickly. Now there might be some inline code you can add to turn off the auto-link, but that I don't know. At least this is a workaround that might help.

That's great, so we don't have to worry about specific wording to trick the auto-link. A source code change would turn it on/off for the entire app. I prefer the meta tag method, useful if you want to adjust the settings on a per file basis: put in html header: not sure how the forums show code, so I'll type again, but without the proper enclosing brackets (less than/greater than signs): put in html header: meta name = format-detection content = telephone=no
