URL schemes and external IP address

Hi Buzztouch Guys (and Gals) I'm struggling with a couple of issues here. Firstly I would like to add a button which uses a custom url scheme to call an app ie myapp:// My impression was that I could simply put this myapp:// in as a custom url button and it would launch said app. Doesn't seem to work. It works fine when I type it in safari. Similar issue I have is browsing to an external IP address (under a button) to display a wallboard again this works fine in safari when I input the external IP but when I create a button in my app using the IP address it doesn't work. I hope this is clear and I hope someone can help. Any tips appreciated.

Custom URL - Webpage choice, is exactly that, a URL and it expects a URL. myapp:// is not a URL. It's close to a URL, but not exactly. Darned internet. I'm not sure where you got the impression that you could 'simply put this myapp;// as a custom url button and it would launch said app' However, if you thought this, surely other must too? What exactly are you typing is Safari that works fine? I can't imagine myapp:// would launch anything? Like the first question, what IP address are you using to dispay a wallboard - and - just for fun - what the heck is a wallboard? Giggles. We'll get this figured out, I'm sure it's doable, just don't understand the idea yet. Oh, lastly, have you tried the 'Launch Native App' choice? Maybe try that, choose Safari as the native app, and see what happens?

Hi David, Thanks for the reply. Ok so, custom URL scheme's (I understand) are keywords that you associate (bind) with your app which can then be used as a trigger to call your app, see here http://iphonedevelopertips.com/cocoa/launching-your-own-application-via-a-custom-url-scheme.html so I have bound my app to the word sabre (just used the word myapp:// as an example) and to call my app I type sabre:// in safari and my app launches. Wallboard is a display that is linked to a telephone system showing current stats (hosted on a PC with an external IP address NAT'd to it), again this works if I browse to it in safari. I'd rather not put the details of it on an open forum (no offense to anyone), is it possible to contact you directly (privately)? The launch native app selection you have suggested, is this a v1.5 feature? The app is currently built in v1.4 (I'm building up my courage to take on v1.5 soon). It does sound like a possible solution. Thanks again. Ricci
