1.5 thanks and feedback

Glad to have the opportunity to work with the new 1.5, thank you! Here are some first impressions: New menu flexibility is a tremendous boost. Even though some of the control panel is still a bit unpolished it's an easy tradeoff for increased functionality. It seems custom text/HTML is missing, hopefully just temporarily? (mentioned already in another thread). I hope a quick flip of the switch gets it back, as it's missed dearly. New icon functionality is also nice. Hope to see more icons available in the stock set. Or perhaps that could be the type of thing that becomes a paid upgrade feature some day. (you guys will need to start making some money, right?) But we do have the option to use our own, so that's great. Would LOVE to have a header/footer text or HTML option to embellish some of the existing menu pages. This would allow for much needed content additions to what is otherwise just menus to menus to menus. Last BIG request: ability to duplicate existing pages/menus and even groups of pages. It would be a time saver for some of the apps I'm building. I know you've been working hard on this new version, and it shows. Really good stuff and I'm ready to dive in headfirst. Thanks!

Duplication of screens + apps is coming soon, this is a priority of ours. Text / HTML, see the previous post. Instead of pasting it in an html web form like before, just past it in a document. Save the document, drag it in the BT_html folder. Then, create an HTML screen on one of your menus - instead of entering a URL, enter the name of the file you added in the BT_html folder. Make sense? Header / Footer text: You can add header images to the menus, just like before. In fact, they can be any size noe (tall, short, etc). See the Menu screen, advanced properties, Header Image. If you want text, you'll need to create an image with the text on it. Text is a bit more complicated than it sounds unless we pigeon hole everyone into the same-size-box, etc. Sounds crazy, but images are easier. We'll get footer images added but text in header / footer is a pain in the xxx.

@Henry: We want the Android done more than you do - promise ;-) We'll get there. As you can see, there are lots and lots of 'little things wrong' that the audience discovers when we introduce each release. It take a bit for us to get all the kinks worked out, bugs fixed, features bullet-proofed. After that, we can get to work on Android. If we released both at the same time we'de have twice as many bugs to fix!

v1.5 Android Edition is a 100% re-write, just like the iOS version. There are HUGE differences between the relatively simple v1.4 and the super duper amazing flexible v1.5 wich requires a re-write. However, re-writing the Android version is much faster the the iOS verson because all the engineering, thinking, planning, designing work has already been done.

David, It's been a while since I could dive back into the forums. Frankly, I've been too busy putting some apps together! THANK YOU for re-implementing custom Text/HTML pages. I've thought a lot about it... having the ability to drop HTML into the source code is also great, too. It keeps the content local to the app (pre-loaded) which is a big plus. But the online editability of custom Text/HTML pages can't be beat, especially for a novice app developer who just wants to get the content in the app as quickly and easily as possible. So I'm really happy to have both options now. Regarding my request for content in a header above a menu list. I'm going to bug you again about it. A same-size-box option is better than no-box at all. I've detailed my thought on this in a new topic in the forum. I couldn't find this one before, but now that I have I'm following up on it, and anyone interested in the discussion of header content can follow on to this link: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=DBA9A8BAE03A1B86DC0F466 ...See what I did there? Content, then a link? Just trying to further my cause. ;)
