Website App

I'm looking to create an application for a website that doesn't just link directly to the actual website. That contains the actual articles of the site within the app itself.. Can this be done within these programs and website?

Oh yes, it sure can. You have several options: You can use PDF, DOC, write custom HTML or you can link directly to the site (I use a special app theme that makes it look very integrated with app...). Get in there and try!

I guess it depends on what format your articles are in. All you do is upload the PDF/DOC's into Buzztouch and it's taken care of. HTML, you would need to learn how to code a bit in order to make it work for you.

the site uses Wordpress which I think is a mix of a bunch of things HTML and PHP? Any idea of what exactly I paste into the app?

Well, if I am understanding this correctly you want your latest posts to be shown in your app right? If that is the case then you can use the RSS Reader and it will automatically update your app to show the latest posts. However, it will link to the website once you select an article to read (at least this is what happens to me, but I just started using Buzztouch yesterday so I could be wrong lol). So, with wordpress you can get the plugin mobile pack which will show your site in a phone friendly way. I haven't tested this, but I think it will work. And it should give you the result your looking for. Again, thats if I understand your problem correctly lol.

That's how it is currently set up. but I would prefer not to have it be just a link to the site. And have the application be separate from the website. If it is just direct links to a mobile friendly version of the site then it kinda defeats to the purpose of the app itself.

I use WP and the Mobile Pack plugin. And it works great. The link to a URL feature in Buzztouch does just that...but it does contain the browsing in the app, so it doesn't like switch to the devices mobile browser. I just stripped down the mobile theme/template for the WP plugin and made it LOOK like the app. It is as seemless as I think can make happen at this point. Your other option...Learn some basic HTML, and copy and paste the content that you want in your app, into an HTML editor. do some basic formatting and then just drop into Buzz. In fact, just go edit the post in WP, grab the content out of the editor (On html view) and drop that into the HTML Buzztouch tool.

If it is just direct links to a mobile friendly version of the site then it kinda defeats to the purpose of the app itself. Yes and no, I see how it kind of does but if your app contains other things in it (like streaming audio or something) it could be nice to pack it all in one place. And Buzztouch does a nice job of this because it is all right there on a big menu. This too would work. But you would have to do this each time you make a new post.

Where can I go in and strip down the mobile pack to match up? All I see is the basic 4 color schemes.. I'm willing to go that option if I have to. I just can't find the coding to change up the color schemes. As you can tell I'm a newby at this. I'd rather not go the HTML route simply because going into the app itself and updating each news post is too tedious.

Gotcha, yeah, the only way to change the look of it is through the css files. If you are interested in doing that I can shed some more light on how to do it, but you need to know css. Otherwise, another really nice wordpress mobile app is wptouch. It has a nicer look in my opinion and it does let you change a few of the options in the free version. It also has a paid version which is $39 but it lets you change the look completely. So, that could be an option.

I know a little CSS. I just cant even find the coding to change up the stuff. I may look into the other mobile app as well though. Seems like it could be money well spent

To get to the theme files you go to wp-content -> plugins -> wordpress-mobile-pack -> themes -> mobile_pack_base Then you edit the style.css and the other theme files if you want to change the format/layout.

Can someone share a sample mobile web theme that will integrate well with the app. Thanks!

I'm Working as fast as I can to get up a good build of what I'm working on. If no one posts one in here before I can get mine up and running I'd be glad to.
