Cannot connect to VM

I get this error when trying to run/debug: Cannot connect to VM socket closed What is VM? I never see any simulator load either. I am using Eclipse with all the sdk stuff installed and Google APIs installed and download the source code from buzztouch and followed the instructions but nothing seems to work. I spent 2 days trying to figure this crap out and still no luck. There's gotta be an easier way. I know nothing about this stuff but my employer needs me to learn it.

Two days trying to figure this crap out - yikes, can't be fun! I can assure you that you have an Eclipse issue. Thousands of folks have successfully downloaded the source-code for their projects and successfully compiled / installed it, the issue you have is going to something that got overlooked. Not sure if this is your problem or not but a quick Google search for android vm socket closed produced this: http://www.myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-20684.html About 3/4 down the discussion it mentions something about fixing the JRE. The poster mentions Are you facing this problem yet? I got similar problem in eclipse, after i changed the jre to JDK at Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs, it got solved. You could try looking there. The other think you should problably do... try to follow the very basic instructions for creating an empty, Hello World Android app to see if you're machine is capable of compiling Android apps. If it's not, you'll need to get it up-to-speed. Here's a simle Hello World for Android step-by-step: http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/hello-world.html The idea is that once you get your machine to easily make Android apps, the source-code you download for your buzztouch project will be useable. If you cannot get even the simplest Android app comipled / running you won't be able to get your buzztouch app to compile / run.

Well the hello world failed too I get this error: An internal error occurred during: Launching New_configuration. Path for project must have only one segment. not sure how to proceed now. I searched the eclipse help and found nothing related to it.

Ok, finally got it working after 3 days. Not much help on the subject. But, basically I had to use a different folder for the workspace and specify the app name in the properties->Android dialog.
