Linking to Google Tracks for Hiking App

Thanks for the great service! I have a bunch of hiking trails I would like to add to the maps section of an app I'm creating. I can see how to set L & L to the trailhead but how would I link the maps I've made of the trails with google tracks that have been uploaded to my google maps? Is this possible with buzztouch? I just need a place to start, not a full explanation on how to do this. Thank you, Bruce

Hi trailman, very cool idea! I think I understand what your'e explaing but I'm not totally sure. Maybe you could create a map using the buzztouch tool that had say 25 locations or map markers, or trailheads. Then, tapping a map marker would show the little bubble with the name of the trail. Then, tapping the more info icon (blue) in that same pop-up bubble could lead to a URL that showed the Google Maps in a mobile way? If you can navigate to a google map that you made for a trail using your iPhone, then you should be able to easily use that same URL as the details URL in the buzztouch map screen. Hoping this makes sense.

I'll start with that. I thought we were limited to 10 map locations? Thank You, Bruce

If you have a need for more than 10, no worries, just let us know, we can allow more. Just an little prevention from folks going crazy! lol. Another idea is to organize multiple areas or regions into differernt maps. Tap here for ... Tap here for .... I can imagine a menu of places, or areas, or trail types or something? Sounds cool. Let us know if 10 'pins' is not enough for EACH map (there is no limit to the number of map screens)

Another idea that will be easily supported in the next release (we are workign very hard on it!) will be to point the 'more details' icon to an image or a file or a pdf or something that is downloaded and saved so the next time it won't need a cell signal. I'm thinking the hiking areas have bogus signal? You would need the cell service / map to find the spots but downloading each interesting place / pdf could be neat later on when I'm in the hills? Just a thought. If you're an avid iOS guy, or just interested.... send an email to info at buzztouch.com with Early Adopter as the subject, we'll get you the project source as soon as we can.

This is my first attempt at an app so bear with me... ;-) Google maps let's you download the map to your SD card (I think). Then you could load & view the map on your phone before/during your hike. The way I'm seeing this being used in my app is to turn on the GPS feature every once in awhile while you're on the trail so you can make sure you're actually on the trail or see how much farther there is to go. Otherwise the battery will be dead from leaving the GPS feature on the phone after about a 2hr period. Also, I'm going to have a geo-tagged video (Via YouTube) at each trailhead with some tips and stuff about the trail, as well as a picture with some text. Hopefully I can get it all to work and make sense. This first app is just the beginning. Later I'll have trail specific apps. Something like Easy Sedona Hikes, Moderate Sedona Hikes... etc.
