Does anyone know how I can stream audio using SHOUTcast from my iPhone App like a Web Radio?

I am looking for the same thing, but in the Droid side. I have figured out how to do it using a Custom URL and it works ok with the iPhone. I won't play in the background. It simply launches the Quicktime player to play. Once you exit the music stops.

Shoutcast is a tough one. We have heard from a few folks that were successful in implementing it but don't know many details. The streaming audio feature is designed to play .mp3's and nothing else. However, you could experiment with using a CustomURL screen instead - enter the Shoutcast URL in the box. I'm guessing it will work on iPhone but not Android. We are working on the next buzztouch version and look forward to releasing it soon. It has an improved Music Player screen but we have not yet worked out ShoutCast on Android. If anyone figures this out, let us know so we can implement it for everyone else ;-)

Android doesn't support audio streaming out of the box. (Droid Does huh?) The only way I've gotten Android to stream audio is an RTSP 3gpp format which requires re-converting an already existent shoutcast or icecast stream. Sorry folks, tried it all. I run a radio station in NY. IPhone does support M3U, PLS, and AAC and QT right out the door. So just go ahead and use the Custom URL that David mentioned in your app. I'm up a creek without a paddle. I packaged the Android App for CyberFM but I can't package the IPhone app cuz I don't own a MAC. I lost both ways :(

Hotwheelz, did you have to make any mods to the current source code for your streaming MP3's? (talking Android here) I have some MP3 that just will not load and sometimes they do, it get's stuck ast the Starting Video Stream. If I past the URL to the MP3 file in the browser it plays without problem eveytime... The default from buzztouch i am using is the streaming audio. I posted a question to David about adding something to 'get' out if the file never loads. Sometimes it crashes the app. Brining this up cause I guess it could happen at anytime.

Same here. The streaming audio plug-in freezes my entire iPhone after it loads. Audio streams but doesn't play. It works fine in the Xcode iPhone simulator but once deployed to device and you attempt to play audio it freezes the entire iPhone. Any fix?
