Shoutcast Streaming on the Droid (how to?)

Is there a way to stream the shoutcast audio on a droid. I figured it out on the iPhone... Thanks :-) I found the Droid uploading was 10 times easier than the iPhone :-)

Shoutcast is a tough one on Android. We have heard from a few folks that were successful in implementing it but don't know many details. As soon as we have a solution worked out we'll let everyone know. The next release of buzztouch is coming soon (v1.5) and offers TONS of more flexibility, screens, layouts, etc. We hope to get ShoutCast support in the new Audio Player screen.

Ditto... see my other post right below yours. David, is 1.5 including its own Android Streaming Player? (IE an embedded stream furious if you will?) That would be not only the hands down winner that would lock you in this industry, but also make my day ;) M3U is 100% Iphone ready and I recommend to David that he implements M3U permissioning ASAP in 1.4 currently. Streaming MP3 is a misnomer, an MP3 is a file that has a size to it. Most players freak out because they can't handle or comprehend an infinite MP3. M3U is the proper infinitely streamed MP3 Format.... lets get that ball rolling for everyone so at least we can get IPhone 100% fool proof for streaming audio.

I will ditto HottWeelz in that the implementation of the m3u and or shoutcast streaming is really where it is at. I am going to play around with the idea that I saw on a previous post about the 3ggp converting and formatting for my servers so I can offer this feed via the droid. Its going to be a big launch for me here in New Hampshire and Portland Maine. I am willing to work closely with the both of you (David B and HottWeelz) to make this happen. Its a big market and I am slicing some big deals right now with a few radio stations that include streaming, app for apple, droid, and windows mobile. I have the windows mobile already created and ready for deployment(built by a third party and learned up to update the .png logos and stream settings).. David B.. Thank you for your help.. The iPhone application is now published to the web and working!!! The way I got the stream to work.... using the custom URL setting: http://wntk.radioeast.ca:8030/listen.pls (this is my dance channel).. Try putting that in as a Custom URL and see what happens. That is how iPhone works with it and its sharp. For now, I added a custom text that says Droid users click here and then give them instructions to go to my stream directly and to download the Xiia Live Lite and then go to my app website which has opened my feeds up in this program. So I am giving a little support on that end, and trouble shooting. Lets continue this and see where we can lend support.. Thanks guys

We should talk, I'm based out of NY, with 38 million listeners (about 2 billion tuneins per month). Geographical Targeting is KILLING me in the online radio world. We have a channel called NY Hits which is basically NY type music but all Top 40 Pop. We throw parties and shows just for geographical targeting testing. I'm at a loss.. my email is [email protected] and my number is (631) 503-6010 ... (both are spam proof so I don't mind sharing them on the board)

Good work here guys. I'm 100% committed to figuring this player thing out. Our efforts are a constant balance between iPhone / Android. It's important to us that a site visitor simply enter a URL and it works. It shouldn't be necessary to have a deep understanding of all the ins-n-outs. We are closing in on v1.5 and the Music Player is slick. When we get it done for iOS, we'll need to figure out all this talk about formats, streams, etc. so it works for Android. We are for sure weak in our understanding of the music business but will get this figured out. Thanks again for the efforts - huge help!
