Back in the 'old days' when screen resolution was about 640x480 12pt was just fine. But as your resolution gets higher, and the screen physical size stays the same, then the appearance of 12pt is smaller. These days, nothing I do is less than 14pt if I can help it. Usually bigger. 20 pt isn't too bad, but I'd play with it on a few different devices and see which one suits your taste.
