app video preview

Hello, In itunes connect, when uploading a new binary, there's an opportunity to include a video. Has anyone done this? Is there a specific size the video may be? Even better, do you have an app live that has a preview video included?

I just did this for my newest app, The Church App. It was a major pain to make the video in all the proper formats. When you try to upload a video it will give you an error right away if it's the not in the right dimensions. After the upload is finished it will tell you if it's not using the right codec. I used h.264 for my codec, after a failed attempt with another codec. Also, the video must be at least 15 seconds and no more than 30 seconds. Gotta say, 30 seconds goes by quick! I wrote out a script, then read it into my computer's audio. Was a little over a minute. Then I cut out a bunch of words and got it down to 31 seconds. I then sped up the audio a tiny bit to force it to finish in 30 seconds (raised the octave of my voice a bit). Then I captured video from my app using Reflector and cut out all the stale points (like spinning wheels, delays before tapping the next screen, etc). Once I got the 30 second video right, I found some background music to put behind it. And that took care of the first resolution...

Thanks Chris! [Fine looking app you got there]! Funny, I didn't see it on iTunes <details/ratings-reviews/related>. Then again, I'm still on iTunes 11.4... probably with the new update it's there. (good reason for me to update)! Thanks for the insight. Those specs are something else!

Yeah - it's on there, just buried because it was just released today. Give it some time, it will become more visible. Feel free to leave me a review - that will help it get noticed. :)

Have you see the new setting in iMovies 10.0.6 "New App Preview"? The file sizes are all preset so no need to worry about them. The movie uploads straightaway to the app store when using Safari. Then it can take a few hours to be approved before you can submit your app for review. To upload the new version of iMovie, you need OS X 10.10. Here's my first attempt at an app preview video. http://youtu.be/MFYQ-2fp8CE

Hey cheers @aquila198... that's a nice thing to say. And now for the real challenge... can you do an app preview video for Vine... 6 secs :-)) Here's mine. Loads of Irish dancers on Vine so trying to target my audience this way. https://vine.co/v/OJi9PQMWvUL

Ah! Should have read the app preview guidelines first. Apple doesn't like my preview video. It should not show someone using the app...incredible, but true! Here are the guidelines https://developer.apple.com/app-store/app-previews/ Don't you just love Apple! :-) I am going to submit without the preview video now and maybe look at submitting one later with an updated version of the app... assuming of course, that is allowed.
